Toro Power Open - Olympic Weightlifting Meet 11/14

There is a 'gym meet' at Mesa Mountain View high school November 14th.  This is a great opportunity to compete in the Snatch and Clean and Jerk lifts.   Regardless of how good you are, the experience will be fantastic, and you will be lifting with the best equipment.  Watching athletes compete like this (and competing yourself) is exhilarating.   Sign up sheets are at the gym.  You must be a USA Weightlifting member and you can become one here.  Let's get a team together and go have some fun!

What are we chasing? Performance based Fitness. @ Max Muscle

Tuesday night, October 20th at Max Muscle Sports Nutrition at McCormick Pkwy and Hayden Rds, I (Kevin) will be giving a presentation on the CrossFit philosophy of Fitness.

How do we evaluate workouts?  How are they created?  What is the goal of our workouts?   How do CrossFit workouts differ from conventional workouts and why are they so popular and effective?  

This presentation will be an opportunity to find out what CrossFit is all about and to think critically about what so many mindlessly do day after day, week after week, with little to show for it:  our workouts.  

How should a program be evaluated?  What should we ask of a gym? 

This will be a casual discussion of methods and philosophies with a formal Q&A at the end.  It is a free event and all are welcome to come down.

Mad Mud Run November 21st.

We want to put together as many teams as we can for the Mad Mud Run in Scottsdale, November 21st at 9am!  We can compete as individuals, as a two man/woman team, or as a team of 5. 

Depending on how many sign ups we get, we'll figure out how many teams we will have, and how big they will be.  The more the merrier!   We will have two divisions, competitive, and fun.  I am signing up for competitive!  So whether you want to win, place, or show, there will be a spot on the NSCF team for you!

Cost is $55 per person through October, and you get a whole bunch of swag.  Signups will be at the front desk of NSCF, pay us and we'll sign up as a team at MMR.
